I just got word from Industrie Forum Design Hannover that the ThinkPad USB secure hard drive we designed has been honored witih a 2010 design award. This year 778 products were awarded from a total field of 2,486 submissions. Entrants from 39 different countries, competed for the coveted iF product design award. I love this product and consider this a great honor for my design team and Lenovo. You can read a detailed blog I wrote previously about the design of the hard drive here. Congratulations to everyone involved!

I have been on the phone and talked to at least 9 of your reps. without any success I have also spent hours on your website trying to get a replacement battery for my laptop. I have also been in contact with your IBM counterparts with -0-satisfaction. It was only mfg.two years ago. I have a Y510 ideapad S/n ABU 0003184 P/N ABO7112802. Surely there must be somebody in your organization that knows how to provide me with a new battery. The laptop is out of waranty and my case # is WN 148-784. Please reply to the above email.

John,
I have passed your comment on to some people who can help. Sorry you are having such a problem.

countless times i’ve been in client meetings and get questions asking where the display is on my “USB calculator.” after a quick explanation about using it to transport all those files i had to sign an NDA to receive, i usually see a few light bulbs above people’s heads.

Why not add some extra keys and let users use it as a optional numpad too?

On-topic: Congratulations! It sure is a nice piece of design, but it could use an update. It seems a little too big to me?
Off-topic, thanks to Svein Tore:
A numpad, or calculator, has the keys in a different order. 1,2,3 is at the bottom end (next to zero) as opposed to 7,8,9 for phones, card readers and such.
But I would like a numpad, for sure. A dedicated one, with keys equivalent to my keyboard, and a TrackPoint, and quite a few programmable keys for my most usual commands. If not I rather use the inbuilt “hidden” numpad, with letter keys and/or F# keys attached to my commands. Less hand travel is faster.
So a real ThinkNumPad is near the top of my wishlist. Let’s all make wishlists and send them to David for christmas! Err, maybe no. Can’t think of a better way to crash his christmas
Yes, I am nice. Sometimes.

On the topic of the use of these comments:
There is a comment RSS feed!
But I can’t use it. I haven’t had the time to figure out why just yet, but the RSS functionality of my web browser… works on 1 out of 10 feeds right now. Feeds I’ve already subscribed seems to be working…
Well, there is no big problem, except when comments are active months after the blog post. Otherwise it’s just minor difficulties following the discussion, responding to certain comments and citing them, writing long comments and such. Maybe I want to use an avatar, a signature and an info site about me and my ThinkPad. Not really a need
Then it’s just the point that blog comments generally don’t tolerate off-topic discussions. It don’t causes anything more problematic than minor confusion, it’s just not really right…
@Jane: I’m rather sure that most of the forum moderators are always flexible, service-minded and simply easy to discuss with. But then there is a few, which I think just as consistently are the complete opposite of the good ones.
(note: You seem to belong to the good ones)
Another long and off-topic comment, but I guess that’s just the way we want it?
